The Acceleron mission is to develop innovative biologics that modulate the growth of bone, muscle, fat and the vasculature in order to treat patients with diseases with high unmet medical need. Acceleron scientists have world-leading knowledge of the biology of the Growth and Differentiation Factor (GDF) protein superfamily. These proteins control the growth and repair of many tissues in the body. The immense therapeutic promise of these proteins has long been recognized, but limited by traditional methods of drug development.

Our discoveries in GDF/BMP biology combined with our novel approach to disease treatment have allowed us to harness the therapeutic power of these proteins and develop an entirely new field of breakthrough agents.
