CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – January 6, 2009 - Acceleron Pharma, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company developing novel therapeutics that modulate the growth of cells and tissues including bone, muscle and red blood cells, today announced that John Knopf, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer of Acceleron, will provide a corporate presentation at the 27th Annual JP Morgan Healthcare Conference on Tuesday January 13, 2009 at 3:00 PM PST (6:00 PM EST) at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco.

The presentation will highlight the breadth of Acceleron’s pipeline and the significant clinical and commercial potential of its novel drug candidates. Data will be presented on the following programs:

  • ACE-011 - a unique drug under development shown to increase hemoglobin and bone mass resulting in a unique profile for the treatment of cancer and non-cancer conditions. ACE-011 is currently being studied in a Phase 2 trial in multiple myeloma patients with osteolytic bone disease. ACE-011 is being jointly developed by Acceleron and Celgene Corporation
  • ACE-031 - the only compound under development that can concurrently increase bone and muscle mass and strength while also reduce fat mass. ACE-031 is being studied in an ongoing Phase 1 clinical trial in healthy volunteers.
  • ACE-041 - a non-VEGF-based anti-angiogenesis agent, expected to enter clinical trials in 2009
  • ACE-536 - a novel non-erythropoietin (EPO), non-hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha agent that increases hemoglobin, expected to enter clinical trials in 2009.
